A Perth artist has taken home a huge cash prize at this year’s Perth Royal Art Prize for Landscape.

Andre Lipscombe won $20,000 for first place at the Royal Agricultural Society of WA’s (RASWA) award night on Saturday.

His winning landscape piece titled Crustose Painting was up against 60 other finalists.

“I am incredibly grateful for the honour of receiving this prize and I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the humbling and generous acknowledgment,” Lipscombe said.

“I am delighted the judges have enjoyed the breadth of experimentation in my painting and recognise the embodiment of universal and interdependent processes inextricably together as occurs in nature.”

The judging panel included last year’s first prize winner Hiroshi Kobayashi, alongside John Curtin Gallery and Curtin
