The Los Angeles Lakers grew increasingly frustrated with Anthony Davis even before the trade that sent him to the Dallas Mavericks. On the other hand, the Mavericks, particularly their former GM Nico Harrison, recognized Davis’ immense potential.
Harrison reportedly allowed Anthony Davis’ personal medical team to continue working with him after joining Dallas. Interestingly, Harrison had not extended a similar opportunity to Luka Doncic when he arrived from the Atlanta Hawks on draft night.
Ahead of the trade deadline last February, Dallas executed the blockbuster deal, sending Luka Doncic along with veteran big men Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Lakers. The trade immediately shocked the NBA community. It was widely regarded as one of the most surprising moves in recent memory.
