India’s Test captain Shubman Gill was retired hurt on Day 2 of first Test against South Africa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Saturday. He appeared in considerable discomfort and the had to leave the field eventually.
The 26-year old came to bat after Washington Sundar was dismissed by Simon Harmer at the score of 29. The incident happened when Gill hit a boundary off Harmer’s next ball but he immediately clutched his neck and was seen in visible pain. The team physio immediately rushed as Gill was struggling to move his neck.
