6A playoffs second round set

Two top West Valley flag football programs from the Deer Valley Unified School District will need to pull upsets in quarterfials Saturday in the far East Valley Saturday to extend their seasons.

O'Connor sweated out a first round win at home over #12 Chandler Basha Wedesday, hitting a game winning field goal for a 6-3 victory. The #5 seed Eagles (11-3) head east to challenge #4 Mesa Red Mountain (17-1) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Rival Mountain Ridge (10-7) is rolling, and the #8 seed routed #9 Phoenix Xavier Prep 35-0 Wedesday. The Mountain Lions get another crack at top seed Gilbert Highland (17-1), also at 2 p.m.
