Guwahati, Nov 15 (PTI) The Assam government is likely to sign an agreement with the British Museum on Sunday for borrowing silk textile 'Vrindavani Vastra', created by Vaishnava saint Srimanta Sankardeva in the 16th century, for display in the state in 2027, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

This would be the first time that a portion of the textile will be on display in the state after it was taken away over at least a century ago, with fragments ending up as artefacts in museums across the world, he said.

In a video message on Facebook before flying to London from New Delhi, Sarma said, "Tomorrow, we have a meeting with the British Museum. We are likely to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with them to bring the Vrindavani Vastra in 2027." He said the JSW group of companies has
