WESTFIELD – The regular-season meeting between Class 6A No. 6 Westfield and No. 9 Fishers last month was a dogfight.
Friday night’s rematch for the regional championship at Westfield’s Riverview Health Stadium was much the same, until the Shamrocks (10-2) clamped down to win the “middle eight.”
Up 6-3 and Fishers (8-4) situated first-and-goal at the 10-yard line late in the first half, the Shamrocks’ defense dropped the curtain with a tide-turning turnover on downs fueled by sacks from senior defensive lineman Zane Newman and junior linebacker Wade Washo to seize the momentum and a 20-10 victory.
