A Newnan shopper is now holding a piece of Georgia history.
A single ticket worth $980 million in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing was sold at the Arbor Springs Publix, located at 4000 N. Highway 29 in Newnan, according to lottery officials.
The Quik Pick ticket matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball: 1, 8, 11, 12, 57 and Mega Ball 7.
The winner will have a choice between a $452.2 million cash payout or an annuity paid over 30 years, beginning with an immediate payment and increasing 5 percent annually. It is the largest single lottery win ever recorded in Georgia.
Publix will receive a $50,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.
