LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville nonprofit is launching its “No Waste, No Hunger” campaign, aimed at keeping good food from going to waste.

Feed Louisville is made up of former restaurant chefs who prepare hot meals for the city’s homeless and food-insecure residents.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, over one-third of food produced in the U.S. is never eaten.

“It’s really easy to throw things in the dumpster. That’s the easiest route. But the chefs and the restaurateurs and the bakers and the farmers who are producing good food, they want people to eat that food. It’s heartbreaking to make something really beautiful and then have to throw it away,” said Feed Louisville Founder and Executive Director Rhona Kamar.

Kamar said they take in about 3,000 pounds of food a day
