Chandigarh, November 15, 2025 — In a move aimed at addressing faculty shortages in state dental colleges, the Punjab Cabinet has approved an increase in the retirement age of Dental Teaching Faculty and doctors in the Department of Medical Education & Research from 62 to 65 years.
According to the government, the decision will help ensure continuity in academic standards, strengthen patient-care services, and meet the long-standing demand of dental faculty across the state.
Officials said the extension will provide colleges with experienced educators and clinicians at a time when the shortage of qualified teaching staff has been a pressing concern.
