Punjab Cabinet approves creation of separate 2,458-post cadre for BBMB

Chandigarh, November 15, 2025: The Punjab Cabinet has approved the creation of a dedicated cadre comprising 2,458 posts for deployment in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), paving the way for streamlined recruitment and strengthening of Punjab’s representation in the organisation.

The decision comes after it was observed that a significant number of posts reserved for Punjab’s quota in BBMB had remained vacant over the years. In the absence of timely recruitment, these positions were often filled by BBMB’s internal staff, resulting in reduced participation from Punjab.
