A young mum has made a heartfelt plea for a life-saving gift this Christmas : an organ donor to help save her life.
Laura Hayman, 29, was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2017 after weeks of feeling unwell. She was immediately placed on dialysis to remove toxins from her body before receiving a kidney transplant from her father later that same year.
The transplant was initially successful, but a few years later, when Laura became pregnant with her little boy Hugo, her transplanted kidney began to fail, The Daily Record reports.
By 2023, the mum-of-one was once again on dialysis five days a week, relying on a machine to keep her alive. Without it, her life would be at immediate risk. View 4 Images
