Plucked from one of football’s finest institutions in Manchester United to ‘the worst state school in the country’, Terry Gibson instantly questioned his career choice when he rocked up to Plough Lane and Wimbledon ’s unruly School of Hard Knocks.

“Certainly at Wimbledon there was a lot of stuff going on,” ex-Dons defender Chris Perry says with a smile when recalling his days at SW17.

“Whenever we signed someone new, something would happen to either their car or their gear box.
