DALLAS — So, I was at the checkout the other day and I whipped out my credit card to pay. I know…so un-Gen Z of me. Reportedly, they overwhelmingly prefer to pay with debit cards, not credit.

And in many cases, the younger set saves those debit cards in their phones–which is how many of them transact. That is verified by UT Dallas Assistant Accounting Professor Kirti Sinha, Ph.D.

“They just want to use Venmo, or they are using Apple Pay or they are using Google Pay, like you know some sort of digital wallet," Sinha said.

Dr. Sinha is more of a credit card user.

“I still use it. My students think I'm old, which is okay," she said.
