LINDEN, Calif. —
The Linden community is rallying to support the Linden Youth Soccer Association after its former board president, Emilie Burton, was accused of embezzling more than $30,000 from the team.
Brenda Romero, a Linden Elementary parent and former coach, expressed the impact of the incident on the community's trust.
"This is a very trustful community. It's a very small community. So we trust each other and I just feel like that just kind of broke the trust," Romero said.
Romero's children also played soccer when the money went missing from the board. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation and recommended that charges be filed for embezzlement.
