WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A stretch of Brookstown Avenue is closed between High Street and Shallowford Street following a crash early Saturday morning. Authorities say a vehicle struck a utility pole, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
According to Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD), the accident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, November 15. The collision damaged the utility pole, leading to power outages in the surrounding area.
Emergency responders from Forsyth County EMS were among the first to arrive on scene. Firefighters and utility crews were also deployed to address the fire and restore power. Around 11 a.m., our news crew observed utility linemen still working to repair the damage.
