New Delhi: Despite sustained international pressure, India continues to be one of the largest buyers of Russian energy. In October, India imported USD 2.5 billion worth of crude oil from Russia, making it the second-largest purchaser after China, which bought USD 3.7 billion during the same period. India’s overall fossil fuel imports, including crude and other petroleum products, totalled USD 3.1 billion.

China and Türkiye’s position

China remained Russia’s biggest energy customer, followed by Türkiye, which imported USD 2.7 billion worth of oil and gas products in October. Türkiye’s largest purchases comprised diesel and pipeline gas, underlining its growing role in Moscow’s energy export strategy.
