CUYAHOGA FALLS — Robbing an opponent of its identity is the ultimate sign of football dominance, and Walsh Jesuit High School achieved the feat Nov. 14 during a 42-21 rout of visiting Austintown Fitch in a Division II, Region 5 semifinal.
Walsh limited Fitch junior running back Deon’Dray Richard to nine carries for 86 yards and a touchdown. Aside from Richard’s 72-yard rushing touchdown on Fitch’s first possession of the game, Walsh essentially shut down the star player who entered the night with 147 carries for 1,118 yards (7.6 average) and 12 TDs this season.
“That's always our defense's main focus — no matter what running back it is, kill the run,” Walsh junior defensive lineman Dario Jeras said. Watch Ohio High School Football Live on the NFHS Network all season
