A Lakeway Area sports writing legend has been recognized for his decades of work.

Veteran Citizen Tribune sports writer Derwin Helton was honored by the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association for his many years of covering high school sports.

Helton was presented with the Contributor of the Year for the First Athletic District (East Region) at the TSSAA meeting in Knoxville on Thursday. TSSAA’s First District comprises of schools from Bristol to Chattanooga.
