Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle continues to use his platform for a purpose.
After getting fined by the NFL for a touchdown celebration, the Panthers’ rushing leader teamed up with GoFundMe to raise $45,000 for the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina.
The group helps place children with adoptive and foster families. On Friday, Dowdle stopped by the organization to present the check and meet some of the families impacted by the organization.
“Definitely was kind of surprising and how much it was able to raise,” Dowdle said. “A lot of athletes have platforms, and I’m just happy I was able to use my platform in a positive way.”
Dowdle says he is appealing his NFL fine and is still waiting to hear back from the league.
