A massive floating dry dock put on a show at Ogden Point on Friday morning.
The 140-metre Seaspan Careen lifted a Canadian warship out of the water and, with three powerful tugs, slowly moved past the mouth of Victoria harbour and into CFB Esquimalt.
HMCS Vancouver was positioned in cradles on the Careen’s massive platform, exposing its hull, allowing the Careen to take the ship into the naval base for inspection and any needed repairs.
Capt. Pedram Mohyeddin, a public affairs officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, said the Careen, with the frigate secured, was towed to B-Jetty, where engineering teams will conduct a detailed hull inspection.
