BLOOMINGTON, IN -- It wasn't meant to be for Wisconsin football on Saturday.

Following winning their first game against a ranked opponent since 2021 against Washington last week, the Badgers were hoping to shock future College Football Playoff participant Indiana on Saturday.

After a stellar first half, in which Wisconsin's defense held Indiana to 10 points, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza showed why he's in consideration for the Heisman Trophy.

Mendoza went 22 of 24 for 299 yards, and four touchdowns against a depleted Badgers defense. Wide receiver Charlie Baker who is filling in for the injured Elijah Sarratt, had five catches for 108 yards and a touchdown.

Wisconsin meanwhile struggled to score points offensively. True freshman Carter Smith went 9 of 15 for 98 yards, one touch
