Beloved actor James Pickens Jr., known for his longtime role on “Grey’s Anatomy,” has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, according to Page Six.
The actor, 73, shared the news with Black Health Matters, noting that prostate cancer runs in his family. “It’s not the kind of news anyone wants to hear, but to be honest, prostate cancer has run through my family,” Pickens said.
“My father had it,’' he said. ”He had a lot of brothers; several of them had it. I would have been surprised if I hadn’t gotten it."
Pickens also mentioned a 90-year-old cousin who is still alive despite his diagnosis, along with other family members who have had the disease. “No one, as far as I know, has succumbed to it,” he said.
