Four law enforcement officers were shot and wounded while two civilians were shot, one fatally, after the officers responded to a domestic violence incident about 10:30 a.m. Oct. 15 in northern Osage County, authorities said.
Three Osage County sheriff’s officers and a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper were wounded at a residence just north of 113th and Topeka Boulevard, said Melissa Underwood, communications director for the KBI.
Also shot were one male civilian who died and another who was taken to a hospital, where his condition was considered stable, said Tony Mattivi, director of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The male civilian who died was “the suspect” in the case, said Col. Erik Smith, superintendent of the KHP.
