PHILADELPHIA — Amon-Ra St. Brown avoided a suspension stemming from last week’s game against the Washington Commanders, but the Detroit Lions receiver was still hit with a hefty fine.
The NFL announced Saturday that St. Brown was fined $12,172 for unnecessary roughness (striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing) for his role in a second-quarter altercation with Commanders defender Daron Payne during Detroit’s Week 10 matchup at Northwest Stadium. The same sequence resulted in Payne’s first career ejection.
Things escalated after St. Brown scored the game’s second touchdown. Payne appeared to throw a punch, leading to his immediate ejection. The league later suspended Payne one game without pay for unsportsmanlike conduct. Payne appealed, but hearing officer Ramon Foster upheld the suspension.
