A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Connecticut last year, which left a 23-year-old woman — who was an innocent bystander — dead, police said.

The gunfire erupted on Cleveland Avenue in Hartford in the early morning of July 5, 2024, WTNH reported. When officers arrived on the scene around 12:50 a.m., they discovered two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

A woman, who has since been identified as Shamyria Williams of Hartford, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The second victim, identified only as a male in his 20s, was also wounded in the gunfire but was alert and conscious when authorities arrived.
