YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Beau Brungard accounted for six touchdowns — three passing and three rushing — to lead Youngstown State to a 48-29 victory over Indiana State on Saturday.
Brungard had 264 yards passing and 90 yards rushing for Youngstown State (7-4, 4-3 Missouri Valley Football Conference). Max Tomczak caught seven passes for 109 yards and Jaden Gilbert had 91 yards rushing that included a 73-yard non-scoring run.
After an explosive first half in which Youngstown State took a 31-26 lead, the Penguins tightened up on defense and allowed only three points in the second half.
Brungard ran for three short touchdowns in the first half and threw a 20-yard pass to Ky Wilson for another. Indiana State kept it close before halftime, never trailing by more than nine points as Keegan Patte
