The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that a commercial truck struck an overpass in Langley Friday.
On Friday afternoon, 1130 NewsRadio had received reports from callers saying there had been a strike at an overpass on Highway 1 eastbound before 232nd.
A spokesperson for the ministry initially said there was no evidence of a strike, calling it a “false report.”
On Saturday morning, the ministry reached out to confirm that there had in fact been a strike.
“A commercial carrier has acknowledged striking the CPKC Rail overhead along Highway 1 in Langley on the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 14 and has provided their contact information to RCMP,” it said.
“Only superficial damage to the overpass was observed. CVSE has been notified and will follow up accordingly.”
