Belleville city officials are reviewing the latest Ontario measures to bolster safety in community safety zones following the nixing of automated speed enforcement cameras on November 14, says Coun. Garnet Thompson.
Chair of the city Transportation Committee, Thompson said the city will weigh its share of $210 million in new funding for municipalities to pay for safety items such as improved road signage, speed bumps and increased police enforcement.

“The Transportation Committee will have to take a look at how they’re going to distribute the funds, how they’re going to use it to really figure out the changes,” Thompson said in an interview on Saturday.
