COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football could be thin at receiver during Saturday’s game against UCLA. The Buckeyes listed junior Carnell Tate as out on their Week 12 availability report, and sophomore Jeremiah Smith was deemed questionable.
Tate was not listed on OSU’s availability report last week against Purdue. While he was in uniform, Tate didn’t play.
“We felt like he was going to be OK to play, but when he went through warm ups he felt something there and so we just wanted to be really careful,” coach Ryan Day said postgame. “Could he have played? Probably, but we’re going to just rest him and make sure, which gave us an opportunity to get some other guys in the game, which was great. That was kind of the idea.”
