When Michael Van Buren decided to join LSU football this offseason after transferring from Mississippi State, he did so under the pretenses of taking this season to learn, grow and develop. After three weeks of "agony," including three straight losses, former head coach Brian Kelly getting fired and senior starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier going down with an injury, sometimes circumstances dictate the next move.

Van Buren could've decided to redshirt and not lose this year of eligibility, but he's not wired that way.
