NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A New Orleans woman faces multiple charges of impersonating a health care worker and issuing prescriptions after allegedly working at a hospital, a nursing home and a jail without a nursing license.
On Thursday, Nov. 13, the New Orleans Police Department arrested 32-year-old Shakeenya Cooper at University Medical Center after she was identified as a wanted subject.
According to an arrest warrant, Cooper allegedly worked at medical facilities in New Orleans for nearly a year without valid credentials or licenses.
The warrant states that Cooper worked as a nurse at the Orleans Justice Center from Aug. 31, 2024, to Oct. 17, 2024. She was employed as a contractor through Wexford Health.
Wexford Health and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office declined to comment on Coope
