Keyboard wrestling and passport-stamp contests with letter writers such as as Eric Greene can quickly grow tiresome (at least for me). We obviously disagree on many points, the latest of which is his assertion that China’s “economically viable and environmentally friendly” energy policies are something we should emulate (“ Wind energy just makes sense ,” Nov. 14).
The largest flaw in Mr. Greene’s thinking, and that of many proponents of international conglomerate US Wind’s industrial wind farm proposal, is encapsulated here: “Either start building and installing offshore wind turbines or wed the country to oil extraction.” Electricity generation — and energy policy in general — is simply not that binary.
