That was the mantra Westfield lived by in a season where it lost five players to injury, including Callie Schmidt, Ava Jasina, Georgia Morrelli, Molly McDermott, and Zara Dobek.

The top-seeded Blue Devils, No. 4 in the NJ.com Top 20, lived up to their code as they won their third consecutive North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 championship, defeating third-seeded and No. 17 Bridgewater-Raritan 1-0 in a rematch of last year’s finals.

“Three sectional championships in a row is amazing,” Westfield head coach Alex Schmidt said. “We faced a ton of adversity this year with five starters out, and eight of our girls contracted the flu last week. People stepped up left and right, and it was a true sign of our senior leadership.”
