The St. John’s College Green Eagles showed their depth and flashed their explosiveness on their way to the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association AAA junior girls basketball championship.
Facing Kitchener Collegiate Institute in the final at Assumption College on Saturday, SJC overcame an early 10-5 deficit and using a 26-0 first-half run the Eagles were able to claim the title with a 72-18 victory.
It was the third straight CWOSSA junior girls basketball championship for SJC and the second with head coach Janet Reid at the helm.
“It feels good,” Reid said.
“The girls worked hard all year. We had our times when we didn’t start very well but they kept plugging away, they kept working hard and they pulled through.”
