Emmy Award-winning writer Dan McGrath has sadly passed away on November 14, 2025, at 61 years old. He has written episodes for The Simpsons , Saturday Night Live , King of the Hill , and Gravity Falls .

McGrath was a critically acclaimed writer. He won an Emmy in 1997 for The Simpsons episode, Homer’s Phobia , which guest starred John Waters and was applauded by the LGBTQ media advocacy organization GLAAD. He was nominated for an Emmy in 1992 for his work on Saturday Night Live . McGrath has also written several other iconic episodes of The Simpsons , such as Treehouse of Horror IV , Bart of Darkness, and Time and Punishment .
