OSKALOOSA, Iowa —
Jerry Staton, a longtime football coach from Oskaloosa, died on Thursday at the age of 84.
His coaching career spanned several schools, including Pella Christian and Oskaloosa, where he led the team to a state title in 1996.
Staton was also named Iowa's National Coach of the Year in 2014 while coaching at Albia.
On Friday night, football stadiums, including Clarinda, Albia, and Vinton, lit up for the night to pay tribute to Staton. You can see more in the video at the top of this story.
A memorial service will be held for the beloved coach Nov. 17 in Oskaloosa.
