An accidental explosion at Jammu and Kashmir's Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar killed nine people and left 32 injured while officials were examining explosives seized in a recent terror-related investigation.
The incident occurred at 11:20 pm on the night of Friday, November 14, as investigating personnel were extracting samples from a large quantity of explosive material recovered from Faridabad in connection with the "white-collar" terror module, according to a press statement by the station.
Believed to have been triggered by the unstable nature of the chemicals, the blast shattered the police station building and sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood.
