Alabama football found a new way to lose under Kalen DeBoer on Saturday. For the first time throughout his tenure as the Crimson Tide’s head coach, UA lost at home , falling 23-21 to Oklahoma at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Saturday’s loss, against an Oklahoma team that ended Alabama’s playoff hopes last season , dropped the Crimson Tide to 7-2 for the 2025 season. The defeat was UA’s first loss since Week 1 at Florida State and first home defeat since Week 2 of the 2023 season, when it fell to Texas.
However, the loss probably won’t completely scuttle the Crimson Tide’s chances at making the College Football Playoff, something it failed to do in 2024. Fighting back to make the 12-team field will require Alabama to fix problems and win games, but it’s still likely.
