COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Speculation can be put to rest, because Texas A&M has it’s man.
Aggie head coach Mike Elko signed a new contract that will keep him in Aggieland through the 2031 season, the athletic department announced Saturday, hours after A&M’s comeback win over South Carolina.
Elko’s previous contract ran through Jan. 31, 2030. The new deal extends his contract by two years.
The release gave no details on Elko’s new deal, other than it “enhances” the coach’s base salary and includes escalators tied to making the College Football Playoff. The salary pool for Elko’s assistants and support staff will also increase, including escalators for those positions, as well.
