BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin returned to the ice on Saturday, eight days after the team announced he would take a leave of absence.

Dahlin had traveled to Sweden last Friday to be with his fiancée, Carolina Matovac, who is recovering in their native country after an emergency heart transplant over the summer.

Sharing a video of Dahlin back at practice, the Sabres highlighted his readiness to rejoin the team for Saturday night's game in Detroit against the Red Wings. The Sabres rallied from a three-goal deficit to win 5-4 in overtime on a Mattias Samuelsson goal.

Dahlin notched an assist — his second of the game — on the winning goal. He was on the ice for nearly 26 minutes.
