DETROIT — The Wolverines had been waiting eight months for their “get-back” game. Notre Dame ended their season in March. Michigan was out for revenge Saturday.

The NCAA Tournament loss “left a bad taste in our mouths,” Michigan sophomore Olivia Olson said. One of the team’s goals this season, she said, was winning the rematch.

“I mean, it was on my mind,” coach Kim Barnes Arico said. “That was the first thing that I said. I went back and watched that game preparing for this, and I was like, ‘Holy cow. We gave up 30-something points in the first quarter. And a lot was us handling pressure. We were young. We were in a different environment. They were hosting in the NCAA Tournament and they jumped on us.

“But we had an opportunity now to get that back.”
