COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football entered Saturday’s matchup against UCLA with few questions about its standing as the nation’s top-ranked team. However, there was uncertainty at one key position for the Buckeyes: right guard.
Coach Ryan Day said Ohio State planned on rotating at the position while looking to identify who the best option would be, and he followed through with his promise in the 48-10 victory.
Tegra Tshabola , as has been the case across the last two seasons, started for the Buckeyes, and he handled the first two drives. The first resulted in a touchdown, with running back Bo Jackson carrying the ball five times for 30 yards. The second ended with OSU settling for a field goal.
Then, it was Gabe VanSickle’s turn.
