SAN ANTONIO — A tractor-trailer carrying instruments for an Austin high school marching band bound for state competition at the Alamodome was hit by a train just hours before competition Monday afternoon, officials said.
San Antonio police said no injuries were reported in the accident, which happened around 2:40 p.m. near Carolina Street and Hoefgen Avenue, less than a mile from the site of UIL State Marching Band Contest. In a letter to parents regarding the crash, Vandegrift High School Principal Charlie Little said students were at the Alamodome when the collision unfolded.
