COLUMBUS, Ohio —Ohio State overcame its own injury concerns to overwhelm UCLA, 48-10, on Saturday at Ohio Stadium, building a commanding halftime lead that the Bruins could never overcome.
Both teams entered the contest dealing with significant personnel losses. UCLA played without starting quarterback and leading rusher Nico Iamaleava, who remained sidelined with a concussion. Redshirt sophomore Luke Duncan made his first career start and threw his first college pass in Iamaleava’s absence. The Buckeyes were without wide receiver Carnell Tate for the second straight week, and star receiver Jeremiah Smith departed after the first half following a brief absence during an offensive drive.
The Buckeyes wasted little time taking control. Running back Bo Jackson punched in a 1-yard touchdown
