Wales is known as the "land of castles" and has over 600 to choose from for a historic day out. One particular castle you should add to your bucket list is Castell Rhaglan (Raglan Castle), the "grandest castle ever built by Welshmen". Completed in the 16th century, this castle-palace is considered one of the last true medieval castles in Wales and is set amid rolling countryside. It's also just a short drive from gastro hotspot Abergavenny, which is home to the best foodie hotel in the UK, according to the Sunday Times.
As noted by Cadw, Raglan Castle is no ordinary Welsh fortress; it's known as "the grandest castle ever built by Welshmen"
