A man from Fall River, Massachusetts, was fatally struck by a car while in a cross walk in New York on Thursday, police said.

Suffolk County police say Jim Jones, 55, was attempting to cross Veterans Memorial Highway when he was struck by a Honda Civic around 7:11 p.m., according to NBC10 Boston affiliate WJAR .

Jones was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he died from his injuries, police tell WJAR.

The driver, identified as 64-year-old Erin Archibald, was uninjured in the crash, WJAR reports. Archibald's vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. It's unclear if any charges will be filed.
