MACON, Ga. — Mercer football achieved history once again.
The Bears, after a 63-17 blowout over Chattanooga at home, clinched back-to-back SoCon titles, but that's not it. Mercer also, for the first time since the program was re-established in 2013, finished undefeated in conference play.
The Bears came out victorious against every single SoCon opponent they faced. Whether a dominant blowout or a hard-fought victory, Mercer found a way this season to take back-to-back conference titles.
Enter the Freshman
Mercer's route to winning another SoCon title was not a simple one. The team had a massive challenge of replacing freshman standout quarterback Whitt Newbauer, who transferred to Oklahoma in the spring.
