Fire swept through a home on South Cook Avenue in Trenton on Saturday, leaving two people and a dog dead and displacing nine others, officials said.
The fire at 164 South Cook Avenue erupted shortly before 11:45 a.m. and quickly went to two alarms. One woman reportedly jumped from the second floor to escape the flames but two victims were trapped by fire.
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora was at the scene and confirmed that a man and a woman died in the fire.
The American Red Cross was on the scene to offer emergency food and lodging to the nine people displaced by the fire, the mayor said.
Gusciora said the woman who jumped was taken to the hospital. He did not know her condition Saturday afternoon. The condition of a dog that survived the blaze was also not available.
