Joyce Edwards scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as No. 2 South Carolina mostly contained No. 8 Southern Cal for a 69-52 victory Saturday night in Los Angeles.

The Gamecocks (4-0) received 14 points apiece from Tessa Johnson and Raven Johnson and 12 points from Ta’Niya Latson. Madina Okot had 15 rebounds and Raven Johnson finished with 11 boards to bolster South Carolina’s 56-32 rebounding advantage.

With a strong third quarter, South Carolina stretched a two-point halftime lead to 55-45.

Kennedy Smith’s 12 points and Kara Dunn’s 10 points led the Trojans (2-1).

Southern Cal, which shot 33.3% from the field, couldn’t repeat a late-game comeback like it produced last weekend in overcoming then-No. 9 North Carolina State. The Trojans were 1-for-14 shooting on 3-pointers.
