The NBA has reportedly demanded documents, phones, and various electronic records from several franchises as part of its expanding investigation into illegal sports betting activities. This probe has already cast a wide net. Recently, the Orlando Magic found themselves at the center of attention.
According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, a “regularly starting player” from the Magic allegedly shared inside information with a gambler. He revealed that the team intended to “tank or sit its starters” during an April 2023 game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The report explained that this gambler then passed along the confidential information to other bettors who used it to place wagers against Orlando.
